Evgueni (you probably remember me like this)

Welcome to the homepage of

Evgueni Nikos
LOUKIPOUDIS

Evgueni (you might know me like this too)

This site is built in an old-fashioned way - writing html, css & php scripts with a basic text editor - no flash, no special extension, etc. I'm tempted to use Queen's statement "No Synthesizers!" that was seen on the back of their "A Night At The Opera" album (for those who remember it :)).

ALL ABOUT MY MUSIC

These pages are private, so what is to be found here is mainly related to the things I do in my off-office hours, rather than what I have done and what I am busy with professionally. So apart from the music I'm writing, playing and recording, which is mainly what this site is all about, you can expect to find here information on:

My multimedia gallery hosts many photos, but also mp3 versions of most songs written and performed by my daughter and myself. There are also some scanned images of drawings of my sister - Daniela Georgieva-Tacheva from the time she was a student in the Arts Academy in Turnovo, Bulgaria.

I'm not a regular blogger, but I post some thoughts here from time to time just to keep this site a bit more dynamic.

 Personal Data:

Gabrovo My full name is Evgueni Nikos Loukipoudis (written in Cyrillic like this - in case your browser understands it: Евгений Никос Лукипудис)

I was born in Gabrovo, Bulgaria - a nice town at the foot of the Balkan mountains. I've moved around to different places and I am presently settled in Waasmunster, Belgium, which is about halfway between the two major cities of Flanders - Gent and Antwerp.

My daughter - Camelia Loukipoudis (Cammie), lives now in Los Angeles, California doing a PhD in UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles). There is a lot on this page about Cammie and the music we used to make on any occasion we could - not any more since she has a bigger task and a nice boy as a husband to take care of.

Recently I had to draw a geneology tree for Cammie, so after consultations with several relatives I created this one (far from being complete, but hopefully valid enough for the time being).

 My Discography:

George Anastasov For the moment there are two commercially available disks with my contribution. I recorded a piece called "Friends" on the album of George Anastassov "Lord, Give Me Strength" playing guitar and singing. This is the second album of George, a great friend of mine and a former colleague musician. The music on the disk is composed by George. Lyrics of the song I sing are written by Cammie and myself. It was released November 2003 and is commercially available in Bulgaria.

See the details here or click on the image. The album is also available online on BGMusic.bg. An instrumental version of the same song is included in the third album of George - released December 2004.

 My Recording Studio:

Studio My thanks to Plamen Mirtchev, who gave me the idea to set it up. I was also encouraged by friends like George Anastassov and Valery Tsekov, who were also my colleague musicians in the BEVIS rock-back we had in the 80-ties and who dared to start recording their music earlier than I did.

Now I record mainly acoustic music - some soft and/or jazzy pieces that I write and play either alone with overdubbing or with friends and colleagues. I used the themes of some of the instrumental pieces to create songs using lyrics of my daughter and had her singing them too. Cammie used to play cello, but I have not had the chance to record her. You may wish to have a look at her project "The Rose", which she did in 2000 in Rousse, Bulgaria with Plamen.

I am using Darla24 by Echo Audio (24bit/96KHz) and Cool Edit Pro and Cool Edit 2000 software. I use a great studio mike: Studio Projects B1, thanks to Steve Rankin, who gave me the idea. I use some other dynamic Sennheiser mike, the pre-amp and mixing panel is the fantastic Mackie Micro Series 1202 VLZ PRO. The guitars I use are primarily the Takamine CP132 and an old, but nice Eko. I use the Line6 POD 2.0 virtual amplifier and I love it. It is a great tool! I still have not recorded something worth publishing on my acoustic piano, but I surely have plans to.

There are plenty of guides for those who wish to set up their home recording studio. I found the beginner's recording handbook a very good source for information of how it works (or rather how it should work).

My girlfriend - Elitsa Kumanova (Eli):

Eli in Waasmunster 2004 This is my girlfriend Eli - picture is taken in the fall of 2006 in Bulgaria. There are some more photos of her in the gallery on this website. She works for the European Comission in Brussels.

I have some of the painting of her mother - Milka Kumanova - in my gallery.

My daughter - Camelia Loukipoudis (Cammie):

Cammie in early 2004 Have a look at some of the lyrics of our first disk with Cammie. She is the author of nearly all of them. She has actually written a lot more poems, but I have had no time yet to write music for them all.

She also sings all the songs we have recorded toghether. She wanted to play the cello on one of them, but we did it with a synthesizer instead. Cammie also records other songs. Her project "The Rose" includes some pieces written especially for her by Plamen Mirtchev (Mirona) who recorded the album in M&C Studios in Rousse, Bulgaria. Look for more here.

She is the girl also on the pictures I have put on this server. If you wish to send her some remarks or your opinion on the songs she wrote and sings you may use this address: josie093@yahoo.com

Cammie has recently posted the photos from her archeology trips to Egypt and Greece in 2005 here. I've copied some of the interesting ones in my gallery too.

I have also put in my weblog some of Cammies writings (this is mostlt what she did for her English Writing classes before and in the university): The Hat; The Age Of Aquarius; Beauty is as Beauty Does;

 Some links:

This is the website danyandthefamily.com, of Daniel Djumaliiski (Danny), a great friend and a musician that I played with while I lived in Rousse, Bulgaria. We've never given up plans to play again together sometime and I'm sure we will. Check his gallery for a view of his impressive drum set (and other stuff of course...)

Here's a link to another website music.minearts.com with music - the one of Julian Kolarov, a former classmate from the high-school in Rousse we graduated long time ago. He is currently filling it with all his work that includes songs in mp3 & midi.

Here's a link to the website of Boyko Guergov (Bobby), whom I played with for several years with in the rock-band BEVIS in Sofia, Bulgaria in the 1980-ies. He did make a musical carrier unlike the rest of us, who kept doing it as a hobby.

This link points to the web-hosted album of the Wedding Aniversary of my friends Nikolay & Emilia, while this one is the commercial website of my friend Svetlozar (Svetlo) Siarov, who is running a great piano dealership, tuning and repair business in Gent, Belgium. I truely recommend his services for anyone with a piano maintenance problem in this part of the world.

I'm currently experimenting with both evoStats and blugFlux to depict my visitor statistics in Google Maps. See & .

Software that I use often and do recommend (and it's free!!!)
